New Orleans 2015 Holiday Gift Guide

This post was originally published on New Orleans Entrepreneur Week is an annual festival celebrating entrepreneurship and innovation in New Orleans.

Raise your hand if you waited until the last minute to do your holiday shopping.

It’s okay, no judging. So did we. Who can stay on top of shopping when you’ve got a business to run and you’re dashing from one holiday party to the next?

Let’s be real here.

December is a whirlwind, and it seems like the days just get away from us. If you’ve figured out a magic formula to squeeze more than 24 hours out of the day, let us know. We want to be in on that little secret.

In the meantime, we whipped up some holiday ideas for you (and for us) so that we can finally tackle that big, scary holiday shopping to-do list. With a mix of some local goods we’re digging, and some other treats we’re crushing on big time, it’s basically our very own holiday wish list. So mom, dad, and wannabaes, take note. Here it is.

1. Tchoup Industries Backpacks

We’ve been admiring these sweet backpacks at Tchoup Industries for a minute now. For these local, hand-made, and beautifully designed bags, we think the holidays are the right time to go for the big ask.

2. Defend New Orleans Sweatshirt

This Defend New Orleans sweatshirt is so swag, and we think it would make a good addition to any guy or gal’s winter wardrobe.

3. Porter Lyons Ring

We’ve got a soft spot for Porter Lyons new Deco Bohemia collection. The pieces are fabulous and each one tells a story based on the company’s local roots. We love a brand with a good story behind it. And of course you can never go wrong with jewelry.

4. KREWE du Optic Sunnies

We’ve been pining for a pair of these bad boys for a minute now. We’re hoping Santa will drop a pair of Louisa Interstellars in our stocking. We promise we’ve been nice.

5. Smoke Perfume Oils

The hand-made and mixed essential oils and candles make us want to retreat from all of this holiday activity, and opt for a looong, hot bath instead.

6. Eclectic Home Lamp

We’re all about finding the light lately, and are feeling industrial inspired by this gorgeous Reid Lamp from Eclectic Home. We’d love to add it to our current dream office. It’s still a work in progress.

7. Ashley Longshore Art

We are bright eyed over Artist Ashley Longshore’s bedazzled bodies of work, and we would just be so smitten with any one of her Audrey Hepburn pieces, with all of its bold beauty. You might still be able to snag one of her special holiday collection pieces.

8. The Remedy Room Gift Card

Because it’s that time of year when we’re all feeling a little bit worn out, and we need a break. Bring in Dr. Mary and a Reboot. We might skip gift-giving and get this one just for us.

9. The Grovestreet Press Print

The stationary with all of its’ lovely lettering and messaging makes our little writers’ hearts so happy, especially this super clean print of all of the Louisiana parishes.

10. New Orleans Boulder Lounge Experience

Try something new this year and give the gift of quality time and a new experience. The New Orleans Boulder Lounge is a great new spot to explore, spend some unconventional time and break a sweat with your sweetie.

11. Peche Dining

Give the gift of delicious food, because it’s always a good idea. We like to walk by the windows of Peche on our way home and drool over the fresh oyster bar. It’s a perfect date spot, or post-dinner drinks with the girls.

12. Big Magic Book

Step your game up for the book lovers in your life with any of these reads we’re currently into: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, Decisive, The Hard Thing about Hard Things. Why not stop by our favorite local bookshop, Octavia Books to pick one up?

13. Kendra Scott Earrings

Going to the color bar at Kendra Scott is like delighting our inner child at the candy store. (A new location just opened uptown on Magazine St.) Know a special girl who’s got great style? Gift her any of these stunning earrings. She won’t be disappointed.

14. Red Arrow Workshop Goods

Are you racking your brain trying to think of the perfect gift for that picky person in your life? We know just the right place for you. Pick from any of these fabulous items at Red Arrow Workshop, which offers a curated selection of local goods.

15. Pulp & Grind Gift Card

Nothing says holidays like a hot latte in your hand, even if it is 75 degrees outside. Scoop up a gift card from this locals’ favorite spot in the Central Business District. The coffee is fresh & fantastic. And try as we might, we can never resist their delicious pastries made in-house, either. Maybe in the new year, we’ll do better. Then again, maybe not.
